This notice explains how Bulans Jewellers ("we") collects and uses your personal data when you use this website, buy from us or use our buy-back service. We are the controller of your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form).
- Order details: your name, email, phone number, delivery address and what you bought.
- Payment details: handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited card information (such as the last four digits), never your full card number.
- Buy-back enquiries: your name, contact details, a description of your items and, if you sell to us, your bank details and any identity documents we ask for.
- Messages you send us and technical information needed to run the site securely, such as your IP address.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
- To process and deliver your orders, handle returns and run your account (contract).
- To value and buy items you offer us and to pay you (contract).
- To keep tax and accounting records and carry out identity checks where required (legal obligation).
- To keep the website secure and prevent fraud (legitimate interests).
- To send you marketing emails, only if you have opted in; you can unsubscribe at any time (consent).
Who we share it with
We share only what is necessary with service providers who act on our behalf: our payment provider (Stripe), delivery carriers, our website hosting and email providers, and our accountants. We never sell your personal data. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.
How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: 6 years, to meet tax and accounting rules.
- Accounts: until you ask us to close your account.
- Buy-back enquiries that do not lead to a sale: up to 2 years.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time.
